Flashcards Tool User Guide

The Flashcards Tool in ClassCraft AI allows educators to create a set of flashcards for vocabulary or key concepts. These flashcards can be used for revision, self-assessment, or classroom activities.

Overview

  • Purpose: Generate flashcards to reinforce learning through active recall and spaced repetition.
  • Use Case: Ideal for teaching vocabulary, technical terms, or complex concepts.
  • Customisation: Tailor flashcards to specific units, topics, or outcomes.

How to Use the Flashcards Tool

1. Access the Tool

Navigate to the Flashcards Tool in the ClassCraft AI app. You will see a configuration panel where you can input details to generate your flashcards.

2. Configure Your Flashcards

Fill in the following fields to customise your flashcards:

  • Search for Unit (Optional): Select a unit (e.g., "Creative Sound Production (HA6K35)") to align flashcards with unit specifications.
  • Focus, Topic, or Outcome: Specify the key focus area, such as "Terminology" or "Outcome 2".
  • Number of Flashcards: Choose how many flashcards to generate (5, 10, 15, or 20).

Tips:

  • Use unit-aligned topics for structured learning.
  • Select fewer flashcards for focused study sessions.

3. Generate Flashcards

Click the Generate button to create your flashcards. The tool will use AI to produce flashcards based on the input provided.

Note: The generation process may take a few seconds. The progress bar will indicate the status.

4. Review the Flashcards

Once generated, review the flashcards on the screen. Each flashcard includes:

  • A key term or concept.
  • A concise explanation or definition.

Examples:

  1. Creative Sound Techniques: Methods employed in audio production to enhance storytelling through innovative sound manipulation, layering, effects, and recording practices.
  2. Sound Design: The process of creating and manipulating audio elements for a specific purpose.

Refining Flashcards

Refinement Options

Use the provided refinement buttons to tailor the content further:

  • Add Recall Questions: Include questions for active recall.
  • Use Basic Language: Simplify terminology for younger learners or those new to the subject.
  • Include Practical Uses and Examples: Relate concepts to real-world applications.
  • Show Relationships Between Terms: Highlight connections between terms and concepts for deeper understanding.

Regenerate Flashcards

If needed, click Refine & Regenerate to update your flashcards based on new input.


Exporting Flashcards

Once satisfied with the flashcards, download them in your preferred format:

  • DOCX: For editing or printing.
  • TXT: For simple text-based review.

Scenario

An educator teaching "Creative Sound Production" wants to help students understand technical terminology. They:

  1. Select the unit "Creative Sound Production (HA6K35)".
  2. Enter "Terminology" as the focus topic.
  3. Choose to generate 10 flashcards.
  4. Review the generated flashcards and add practical examples for clarity.
  5. Download the flashcards in DOCX format to distribute to students.

Feedback and Suggestions

At the bottom of the tool, users can provide feedback to improve the tool's functionality. Simply select Good or Bad and add comments if needed.
